Villagers are a vital part of Minecraft, but having too many in one area—or improperly contained villagers—can cause server lag. To help reduce this, our server uses a lobotomization mechanic that affects how villagers behave in tight spaces.
When a villager is confined to a 1×1 space (with no air blocks to move around), they are automatically considered “lobotomized.” This means:
✅ You can still trade with them
🚫 They lose AI and won't move or interact with the world normall
If you free a lobotomized villager by giving them room to move, they will automatically regain their AI.
⏰ Villagers will restock their trades on a fixed timer every 8 in-game hours.
You can control villager AI more precisely using name tags:
nobrain
– Permanently disables the villager's AI, regardless of space
alwaysbrain
– Prevents the AI from being disabled, even in a 1×1 space
These name tags offer more control over villager behavior in compact builds or trade halls.
